MicroStrategy Certifies MicroStrategy 8 with Oracle

Additional Performance Optimizations for Oracle Customers

MicroStrategy® Incorporated (NASDAQ: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence software, today announced that it has certified MicroStrategy 8 with Oracle® Database 11g. MicroStrategy’s certification of the latest Oracle Database is part of MicroStrategy’s recent software release, which became generally available in September 2007.

With its certification of Oracle Database 11g, MicroStrategy continues its long-standing commitment to provide a high performance, highly-scalable BI platform. MicroStrategy has developed several query performance optimizations for Oracle Database 11g that are incorporated into MicroStrategy’s very large database (VLDB) driver for Oracle Database 11g. With these optimizations, MicroStrategy generates SQL that leverages Oracle’s query rewrite and materialized view features, uses Oracle’s date-based functions to perform more efficient date-based calculations, and enhances the efficiency of multiple table outer joins.

Introduced as part of MicroStrategy’s latest software release in September 2007, MicroStrategy Integrity Manager automates the report comparison process and verifies the consistency of reports as changes are made to the BI ecosystem.

Despite the increasing importance of BI applications, BI support teams may fail to validate report and data integrity because the validation process is too labor intensive and time consuming. MicroStrategy Integrity Manager automates this process and identifies inconsistencies and errors, enabling business people to rely on the accuracy of their BI reports and analyses.

MicroStrategy Integrity Manager can detect, compare, and present inconsistencies in reports caused by changes in the BI environment. A BI system is composed of many technologies ranging from operational applications, ETL tools, DBMSs, BI tools, and server operating systems. These technologies are managed by different people including DBAs, ETL engineers, BI architects, BI administrators, BI developers, and system administrators. Any of these people can make a change that can cause an inadvertent error to be introduced in a report. With MicroStrategy Integrity Manager, data inconsistencies can be captured early in the development cycle, saving time in report testing, end user support, and issue resolution.

MicroStrategy® Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence (BI) software, today announced the general availability of MicroStrategy Mobile(TM), a new product that delivers BI information directly to BlackBerry® smartphones from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM, TSX: RIM). MicroStrategy Mobile was included in MicroStrategy’s September 2007 software release.

MicroStrategy Mobile offers powerful features that enable business users to receive the same reports on their BlackBerry smartphone that they receive on their desktop, without the need for reformatting or retrofitting existing reports. Each user can design and save his own personal report preferences to ensure optimal viewing of even the largest reports on his BlackBerry smartphone. Reports can also be accessed while offline or when the BlackBerry smartphone is not within connectivity range.
