McLean, Va., (September 16, 2002) –
MicroStrategy® Incorporated (NASDAQ: MSTR), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence software, today announced that the University of Bamberg, the Technical University of Munich and the Bavarian State Ministry for Education, Research and Art rely on the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform(TM) to access key information aimed at gaining critical education funding.
Universities across Bavaria compete for funding that is awarded on a performance basis, and these three institutions needed a secure, Web-based platform that could support a wide array of queries across their intranet and extranet environments. Today, they are able to run an unlimited number of queries against their MicroStrategy-based systems with ease. With the MicroStrategy platform, they can allocate resources more selectively, and thus, more efficiently.
End users of the universities’ data warehouse application are able to analyze student administration, human resources and financial assistance data as well as exam information. Deans, professors or committee members, for example, can determine the number of students enrolled in a particular subject, identify the financial resources available to a particular chair, or uncover the number of students that dropped out of a specific course in a given semester.
MicroStrategy technology gives university end users up-to-the-minute information, enabling them to react more quickly to trends and make better financial and planning decisions. In the future, the reach of the data warehouse solution will be extended to support research projects and allow interested citizens to access publicly available academic information. Furthermore, the Bavarian State Ministry for Education, Research and Art plans to extend the project to all nine Bavarian universities.
